Be Green

Marca-ADL is a partner in the Erasmus+ Be-green project, entitled Beauty has never been so green, and which has partners from Malta (Go Green Salons) and also with COFAC from Universidade Lusófona (Cultural Training and Animation Cooperative).

The main objective of this project is to promote environmental sustainability in the cosmetics and beauty industry in partner countries, as well as to promote environmental education for all people linked to this sector, whether businesspeople, customers, or anyone interested in maintaining a sustainable lifestyle. Specifically, the project aims to develop knowledge around ecological practices in the beauty sectors, the socioeconomic barriers that influence consumer choices and their potential incentives, in the project’s partner countries. The project also aims to educate professionals working in this sector about ecological options and how to use them to make the most of them.

In this sense, the project unfolds in three distinct phases.

1st Phase

Research phase, where two questionnaires were developed, aimed respectively at consumers and entrepreneurs in this area, and which seek to understand the knowledge of both groups on the topic, what are the obstacles to the use of sustainable products, and their attitudes towards ecological products that are not tested on animals.

A total of 580 people were interviewed in Portugal and Malta, including 519 consumers and 61 businesspeople and entrepreneurs in the sector.

2nd Phase

Training phase, which is based on the conclusions drawn from the previous phase, and that consists of a set of online training sessions, specifically aimed at professionals in this sector, with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of using this type of product in their businesses and creating a network of ecological beauty salons.

The training modules created by the project are accessible completely free of charge through Google’s Classroom platform, and can be accessed HERE.

The pilot tests of the training content involved around 20 participants in Portugal, who also had the opportunity to participate in a practical in-person workshop at a sustainable cosmetics production unit in the Montemor-o-Novo region.

3rd Phase

Consists of participation in ecological and sustainable beauty fairs, which includes the participation of trainees from the previous phase and which aims, in a broad way, to promote and disseminate the benefits of using ecological beauty products among customers in particular.

As part of the project, participation was held in two ecological fairs, one in Portugal and the other in Malta, which together attracted more than 150 visitors.

In Portugal specifically, a digital awareness campaign was also carried out on the project’s theme, which reached more than 28,900 views globally.
